After buying the book 10 years ago, I’m having another go at it. I’ve read the full book, several times. Software wise I’ve not got past chapters 7 and 8, writing the vmtranslator. I’m using python and hoping that this time around I’ll finish this part and can move on to the next chapters. By the way I’m in the UK, happy to team up with someone who’s at a similar stage to me.
I also used Python for the translator and the compiler.
Besides the book, I highly recommend the online courses on Coursera as well, they are free (unless you want a certificate at the end). They summarize and show the chapters quite well, and offer great help.
