There are two suggestions I would make for this course.
1. Provide recommended chip designs.
When learning other subjects, we don't need to guess what the answers are.
For example, in trigonometry, the book explains specific relationships of angles and sides of right triangles.
People have spent thousands of years to make these rules.
The student doesn't have to guess what the rules are.
Several times in this course, I've been baffled and probably would have quit.
Since the forum doesn't provide solutions, it wasn't helpful in those situations.
But I found other web sites that had solutions - the light came on!
Perhaps the administration has considered this at some time in the past.
It would eliminate many forum questions where the student has no clue.
2. Encourage students to use tools such as Logisim.
Many learn visually.
Logisim is free and easy to learn.
It enables fast debugging of chips.
It's a great complement to Hardware Simulator, in which we can store script settings.
