There is no pdf for Chapters 8, 9, and 11

Is there no available pdf for Chapters 8, 9, and 11?
Can those chapters be understood by only reading the available lecture slides?

I'd recommend buying the book. There may be enough info in the lectures to be able to write the VM and compiler, but digging it out might be challenging if you don't have a good grasp of the overall concepts.

My first stop when searching for books is http://www.bookfinder.com which aggregates searches from many new/used book dealers.
