Hardware simulator not loading

I downloaded the software but then whenever I try to open any file it says can not open file. I then extracted the files and tried to open them and then a black window appeared but disappeared very quickly for me to see anything. Can someone tell me how to download and use this software as I am completely unsure. ALso are there any PC requirements for this software?
