Having to pay for course.

roccodeluca
On the site it states that this is a free and open source course, yet I can only take the course by paying $50 to coursera. There isnt an option for me to audit the course either. Is anyone else having this problem? Or is this course simply no longer free?

When I go to the link Cuorsera link, I see the button "Enroll for free".

The lectures should be free; the paying part is only when you want a certificate, and if I remember well, being able to send in your home assignments for checking their correctness.

I see that option too, yet i click enroll for free and it says "This course costs $49. Start your learning journey now and master the material in this course to earn a certificate that showcases your knowledge and achievement. I get that paying the money is mainly for coursera to grade my submissions and for me to gain the certificate, which I then click on "preview this course" right below. When I do this i only get access to module 1, Then i attempt to move on to module 2 and I need to pay for full access. I looked everywhere for the "Audit this course" option yet i have found no luck.

All the projects and lectures are openly available on nand2tetris.org. You can take this course without interacting with coursera. The only thing which is not free that I know of is the course book (I am not aware of whether it is included with coursera).

Same problem here for Nand To Tetris part 2. I think they changed their policy lately as I managed to audit part 1 some months ago. Are the video lectures of the courses freely available outside Coursera?

The authors' slides or the lectures are posted on their website.

I don't know about their videos. But there are many videos put together by others for the course that are out there.
