How are you getting on ?

Do you have the nand2tetris FOLDER on your Desktop
or
a nand2tetris zip FILE on your Desktop
or
that zip file in a new directory you've just created..

I'm off line soon, so I'll give you what info I can:

your nand2tetris Folder (that's been extracted from your zip file) (which you might have done already) should contain two Folders Tools and Projects. If you open Tools it should look a bit like this:

I don't know about your operating system, but mine alows me to go to the command line/terminal by clicking on the File button:

click on Open in Terminal

you should then be able to do the chmod commands of CPUEmulator.sh as mentioned before on my post at 12.19 today

Good luck !

Ok thanks, sorry for the confusion and please know that I appreciate your help. It worked just fine. Opened it with ./Cpuemulator.sh

Still getting the hang of Linux, definitely going to learn more about the command line.

Firstly I have no idea whether what you've downloaded is actually N2T. It looks ok, but I don't think it's an official release. (maybe someone else can jump in here)
It is my soft-fork of the official N2T tools. It contains a few extras, including .desktop files for the tools, so one can run the GUI versions directly.

It is not a full replacement of the officail N2T distribution however. It lacks the projects and the provided Jack compiler, which for obvious reasons is not open source.
